Perfect tiling for the whole house

ceramique

Formerly, we used mostly ceramics for the bathroom and the entry hall; it was the design of the time. Today, as you can see in most decorating magazines, ceramics are found everywhere. In fact, there are many uses for tiles and they’re trendy.

Indeed, tile is used in hallways, walk-ins, the kitchen, particularly on backsplashes and countertops, on fireplace walls or in bathrooms. To be even trendier, it covers the four walls of bathrooms and sometimes the ceiling to facilitate maintenance.

MULTIFUNCTIONAL USE OF TILES

With the current selection of tiles, it’s easier to define a style with multi-purpose, uniform tiles for every room of the house; it’s the end of specific tiles for the bathroom, the kitchen and the entryway with a limited choice of colour. The only criterion to keep around is the choice of style for the room and the impact of our choice on the design of the room to renovate.

A single downside, given the choice of ceramics and other kinds of different tiles, using a designer may be helpful to guide you. Your tile craftsman can also guide you because he has experience with resistance, in particular, and the use of various materials in specific contexts. So, let’s tiling…

CERAMICS INSTALLATION: THE ART OF TILING

Given that the complexity of ceramic design has greatly increased over time and the fact that ceramics are no longer used solely in the bathroom, a professional ceramic artisan tiler would be a wise choice. In the past, general contractors often handled ceramics installation in small places, such as the basement bathroom or a small entryway, but now this work should really be done by a tile craftsman as the surfaces are much larger, the complexity of work has increased (floor levelling, structural membranes, waterproof membranes, diversified installation products) but, above all, ceramics will be part of what we see every day. We don’t want to have an imperfect installation that could spoil the look of our living space.

DESIGNERS’ EXPERTISE

Most designers agree that previously, installing ceramic tiles could be done by amateurs or pseudo-professionals, but this is no longer the case. Fashionable tiles are often large format, which leaves little room for error. The installation must be impeccable in order to achieve precision, uniform joints. Hence the importance of entrusting your work to a tile craftsman!
